Thanks for dropping by.

My name is Randy Mashburn and I am the editor of The Mansion in Heaven. My birthplace is Dallas, Texas. My wife of 45 years and I now live in Irving, a suburb of Dallas. We have two children and four grand daughters.

I attended Oklahoma Christian University and graduated in 1966 with a BA degree, majoring in Bible and minoring in Biblical Languages. During my college days I edited the Talon (Student newspaper, one semester), served as vice president and president of the Men’s Dormitory Council, and vice president of a social service club on campus.

Full time preaching ministry was my career calling. During the next 17 years I served as a full time preacher for churches of Christ in Texas and Oklahoma. We decided to settle in the Irving area to take care of our aging parents, and I held down a secular job supporting my family and preaching and teaching as needed part time.

I have always loved words and writing. Seeking a means to continue serving the Lord, I thought I would test the waters in the blogosphere

Facing the rise of materialism and rising opposition to Christianity, the church is seeing a high drop-out rate. My aim is to write articles which teach and inspire Christians to persevere in this life by focusing intensely on heaven.

I am an avid fan of classical music and Dixieland Jazz. My hobby is 35mm photography. I still have a lot of photo equipment, but am now hampered by a spinal disease which limits my mobility. I also love photos of vintage automobiles. See my Featured Image widget on the sidebar. Sportswise, I root for the Dallas Cowboys, the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Duke University Blue Devils basketball team.

Enjoyed reading your blog today. Brought back good memories of when we went to Sunset and had paper routes. Keep up the good work…the world needs the simple truth.
